Motivational interviewing (MI) Cardiff workshops

Orla Adams, RD. is a registered Dietitian originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland and now living in Cardiff, Wales. She has 25 years’ experience working in the NHS and specialising in weight management. She delivers MI training for multiple disciplines in health care alongside her NHS work. Orla became a member of MINT (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers) in 2011. She has previously served as supportive committee member for MINT UK and Ireland chapter, and on the Program Planning Committee for the annual international MINT Forum. Orla completed her training in MICA (Motivational Interviewing Competency Assessment) in 2019 and also completed training in learning to use MITI (Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity) 4.2.1 in 2020. Orla is passionate about supporting people to develop their skills and confidence with Motivational Interviewing.

Stephen Rollnick, Ph.D. is a retired clinical psychologist, co-founder of motivational interviewing (MI), and currently Honorary Distinguished Professor in the School of Medicine, Cardiff University, Wales. He was a practicing mental health psychologist in the UK NHS for 16 years and pioneered the application of MI in health care.

Over the last 25 years he has trained practitioners in diverse settings and cultures. He and William Miller have collaborated closely over this period, and produced four editions of the basic text on MI. Along with close colleagues they developed the international MINT network for trainers. Steve’s recent work has included a book for school teachers and sports coaches, as well as the fully revised fourth edition of Motivational Interviewing: Helping people change and grow. He now works mostly in sport, mentoring coaches and athletes.
