MPH Learning

Organiser of Newly Qualified Study Day “Have I been abducted by aliens ?”

MPH Learning has been founded by 3 colleagues in response to the difficulties faced by the newly qualified Dental Hygienist and Therapist.

Dave Martin has been in dentistry for 32 years, initially as a crown and bridge Dental Technician then from 1997 as a Dental Hygienist and in 2001 as a Dental Therapist. In 2013 he gained a BSc (Hons) from UCLAN in Dental Studies.

Dave lectured at Leeds and Liverpool University Hospitals for over 10 years and has held several senior posts within BADT, including being Chair. He was honoured by his colleagues and patients in receiving “Dental Therapist of the Year” at the National Dental Awards in 2007. He currently works in several general practices using his full Scope of Practice to both NHS and private patients.

She currently practices in 2 private practices, using her full Scope of Practice. Mel is a well known national speaker and on the editorial board of multiple publications, and has held various senior posts within BADT. She facilitates post graduate training and clinical practice. Mel is a key opinion leader for Dentsply Sirona and Phillips Oral healthcare.

Debbie Hemington qualified as a Dental Therapist at New Cross in 1983, the year it closed down, and is actually the last New Cross Therapist! She qualified as a Hygienist at Kings in 1987 and for the last 14 years has combined working in practice with teaching student Therapists and Hygienists at The Eastman Dental Hospital. She also worked for the former London Deanery for 4 years as part of the DCP CPD team, leading for Dental Therapy. She recently completed a 2 year part time post graduate course in Clinical Periodontology, and was invited to join the charity “Heart Your Smile” to lead their educational programme.

Debbie is Treasurer of the London Region of BADT where she organises regular study days, and has been an invited speaker at a number of events: The Dentistry Show, The Trigeminal Neuralgia Association and the European Association of Oral Medicine, where she presented an account of her role in treating a terminally ill HIV positive teenager, to an international audience.

We look forward to meeting you soon!
