National Forest Teaching School/ The John Taylor SCITT

The National Forest Teaching School is an alliance of schools based across the East and West Midlands who are committed to working together to develop outstanding practitioners in our schools. NFTS is led by John Taylor High School, who are also an accredited SCITT. We offer School Direct placements in a wide range of secondary subjects, and also a General Primary 5-11 School Direct route.

We are proud of our programme, which will be entering into its sixth year of the The John Taylor SCITT in September 2020. We have excellent links with our local schools, and impressive completion and employment rates for our trainees.

As an accredited SCITT and Teaching School, we are able to support trainees well beyond their training year, offering programmes such as the NQT +1 and NQT+2 programmes throughout the alliance, and a comprehensive CPD training programme for teachers at all phases of their career.

Essentially, as an alliance, we are committed to 'learn, teach, grow and share:' making sure that the very best practice in schools is cascaded so that students in our own and other schools achieve their potential.
