Mr Nimesh N Patel
I am a consultant otorhinolaryngologist/head, neck and thyroid surgeon with a specialist interest in head, neck and facial cancers, thyroid surgery, salivary glands, voice and swallowing disorders, LASER and Robotic surgery.
Having graduated in medicine from Manchester University I underwent basic surgical training in Manchester and London. I obtained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in Otolaryngology with Surgery in General in 1997. I then specialised in Otolaryngology, training in London for the next six years. I obtained the Specialist Intercollegiate Fellowship in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in 2002. I completed fellowships at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA and the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Adelaide, Australia (head and neck surgery, voice and sinus surgery).
I completed Masters degrees in Voice and Swallowing (University of Newcastle), Evidence Based Medicine (Oxford University) and a Diploma in Robotic Surgery (University of Lorraine).
Since August 2004 Mr Patel I have been a consultant otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust and Lymington Hospital. I have held many additional roles in the Trust including Chairman of the Head and Neck Cancer Service and Lead Clinician for ENT.
I am a fundraiser of Headline (Southampton Head and Neck Cancer Charity Fund) and a Trustee for the National Association of Laryngectomees. I am Past-President of the British Voice Association and current Treasurer of the Laryngology and Rhinology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine. I have been cited in Who’s Who in Medicine.
