NU SESSIONS
NU sessions provide a nurturing space for authentic self-expression, drawing inspiration from the present moment and offering a platform for emotional release. Our focus is on fostering vulnerability, aiming to reconnect with the purest form of creativity—being fully present in the "NU," which means "NOW" in Swedish. The heart of our community lies in the lasting connections forged through music, providing an opportunity to meet like-minded individuals who share a passion for music, united by a common purpose and free from judgment. The music shared in this environment acts as a transformative force, capable of connecting people on a profound level, transcending boundaries and differences. At NU, we are dedicated to cultivating an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can embrace their creativity and find solace in the healing, unifying power of music and artistic expression.
Our journey began two years ago in September 2022, with my dream of creating a space where creativity and free expression could flourish—a dream I couldn't find fulfilled elsewhere.
NU is not just an event; it's an ego-free jam and a safe space for expression and diversity. We bring together an eclectic mix of poets, singers, and musicians, creating a dynamic community that celebrates the rich tapestry of artistic voices.
In addition to our creative endeavors, NU has also served as a refuge for disadvantaged young people in the area, providing them an escape from problematic situations often connected to homelessness, gang violence, or mental health challenges. Our commitment extends beyond music, aiming to make a positive impact on the lives of those who need it the most.
Our journey began at Isla Ray Cafe in Deptford, London, and has since grown into a much bigger night located at Villages Tap Room in Deptford. This expansion reflects the increasing resonance and impact of NU in the community.
Our current operations as a non-profit community are largely fueled by the incredible contributions of our volunteers. Looking ahead, our goal is to change this dynamic, ensuring that all creatives receive compensation for their hard work.
We are committed to keeping our events completely free, ensuring accessibility for everyone. To achieve this, we are actively seeking additional funding and donations. With extra support, our aim is to initiate compensation for everyone involved in our vibrant creative community.
