OPEN KAMERA CIC

Open Kamera CIC is a photography collective based in Plymouth, UK, created by Kinga Krzyminska and Maciej Krzyminski– two image-makers who believe that creativity is not a luxury, but a way to reflect, and connect. Kinga and Maciej are graduates from Arts University Plymouth, Finalists of AOP Student Awards and PhotoTherapy techniques practitioners. Their artistic process is rooted in the organic and authentic, as they embrace traditional analogue techniques to create images that resonate with truth and sincerity. As socially conscious artists, they actively engage with communities to develop photography projects and workshops that foster connection and understanding.

We started OPEN KAMERA CIC out of a personal need to belong. Photography became the tool that helped us make sense of life in a new country. Over time, it grew into a way of holding space for others - especially those navigating transition, identity, and disconnection.

Our manifesto is simple:
creative spaces should be open, accessible, inclusive, honest.
The camera should be a companion, not a barrier.
Stories matter - especially the quiet, unpolished ones. That’s why we work with analogue photography. Film slows things down. It brings intention, care, and imperfection back into the process. Combined with techniques inspired by PhotoTherapy, our sessions become more than just photography - they become space for self-expression, storytelling, and emotional processing.

And why KAMERA with a “K”? It’s how you spell it in many languages – a nod to our roots, and a reminder that photography is a universal language that crosses cultures and builds bridges.

We create projects, classes, and workshops with communities, and also work with organisations and companies who want to keep creativity alive for their teams. We offer RAW PORTRAITS - honest, film portraits for artists and creatives - and an alternative to typical headshots for organisations who want to represent themselves with more truth, and less polish.

We’re not chasing perfection. We’re holding space for process, story, and connection.
