Updates for Practice Nurses in North West London – FREE OF CHARGE

 

Are you an experienced practice nurse working in General Practice in NWL, wanting to update your knowledge and skills?


This programme has been funded by Health Education England North West London, enabling experienced practice nurses, working in general practice in NWL, to access an essential knowledge and skills update programme.

 

  • Choose to Complete the Programme in either:
    • 3 full days in one week – quickly complete the annual update
    • Select half days - convenient to you / your practice

 

  • Delivered by Expert Practice Nurses and Experienced Nurse Educators

 

  • Includes:
    • Cervical Sampling and Family Planning Update
    • Immunisation and Travel Health Update
    • Ear Care and Safeguarding Update
    • Wound Care and Infection Control Update
    • Asthma and Diabetes Update

 

  • Update Sessions are Face-to-Face and utilise Simulation

 

  • Certificates of Attendance will be Provided

  • Travel Health review
  • HEE/LETB Education & Training Update- current information for practice nurses
  • Ear Care - history taking, signs and symptoms
  • Ear Care technique – review and simulated practice
  • Quality assurance, communication, and handling difficult cases
  • Anaphylaxis for adults and children

 

Wound Care and Asthma UPDATE Session- 4 hours

 

  • Wound Care, tetanus prophylaxis, dressing types
  • Asthma – national guidelines, signs and symptoms, care planning
  • Simulated practice - teaching inhaler technique and using peak flow meter

If you attended last year’s updates, you will not need to attend for a further year. Priority will be given to Practice Nurses in NWL who have not attended this programme as yet. 

YOU MUST REGISTER ON EVENTBRITE IN ORDER TO ATTEND THE UPDATES. 'TURNING UP' WITHOUT REGISTRATION WILL RESULT IN NO CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE BEING ISSUED.

As part of HEENWL’s funding requirements the University of West London is required to provide HEENWL and Clinical Commissioning Groups with information relating to the numbers attending, the names and work email addresses of attendees, details of the Clinical Commissioning Group employer and details of non-attendance for the Study Days. This is to enable HEENWL to monitor the uptake and effectiveness of the training provided, identify which areas of North West London have received training and to notify Practice Nurses of future training opportunities.
