Qualified Tutor is a Professional Development Community for tutors. We are Raising Standards in Tutoring Together by ensuring that every tutor worldwide is Safe, Skilled and Supported.

Our Story

Qualified Tutor was founded in 2018 by former school leader Julia Silver, to bring support and development to tutors worldwide.

Committed to raising standards in tutoring, Julia launched Qualified Tutor the grassroots Professional Membership Organisation for tutors. With accredited training, community, and the Love Tutoring Festivals, we have now reached more than 5000 tutors worldwide with our message that 'Tutoring is Not Plan B, it's a legitimate profession and for some, a better career choice'.

Julia is passionate about improving outcomes for students by nurturing the adults that work with them. She is currently working on her book, ‘Safe, Skilled, Supported: How to have a Successful and Sustainable Career in Tutoring' soon to be published by Crown House. In 2023, Odette Wohlman joined Qualified Tutor as Cofounder. As a mother of four, with decades of corporate experience, she is committed to making a difference. With her background in People and Business Growth, building global teams and representing some of the world's best-known brands, Odette has the skills and the knowledge to help tutors take their professionalism to the next level. The Qualified Tutor values 'Be Curious, Be Generous and Be Reflective' are integral to everything we do. This protects the high trust culture that allows our members to learn in a a safe and supported space. Our training and events are accredited by CPD, Ofqual, The Chartered College of Teaching and Qualified Tutor. We aim to deliver learning experiences that go beyond information to provide transformation.
