Rob J Cotterell

Rob Cotterrell, husband, father and community activist

Rob was invited to speak at the launch of the Men Up North symposium 2014 held at Sheffield Hallam University.  He shared elements of his personal journey his life experinces in relation to childhood, adolescense and those he considered to be his key influencers. He had not spoken about any of these themes in public before and he was wondering why he felt he could open up now. Rob recalls talking about the micro-aggressions he had experienced 'letting it out' felt good.... the emotional release had a postive impact on his well-being, his story was valued and he was not alone, here he had found a space where there was a deep sense of understanding, a community of support, an acknolwegement of his true identity

Having entered the STORM Rob is now keen to develop conversation spaces, for 'Black' men....he is open in saying that sometimes 'you need to feel the fear but you got to do it anyway'

Join Rob and accept the challenge and reignite 'Black' excellence
