Roger is the Founder of the London Market Technology Exchange and London Market People, two exciting business clubs for professionals and executives from the London Insurance Market. He has spent the last 28 years working in the London Insurance Market, initially in reinsurance, then in commercial retail insurance where he looked after a portfolio of blue chip multi-national clients, before moving on to international retail and wholesale business. He has held a number of senior posts in Aon, HSBC Insurance Brokers and more recently Marsh, including roles such as Head of Claims and Head of Market Practice, as well as sitting on, and advisor to, management boards.
Roger has travelled extensively overseas and spent long periods working with clients and branch offices in North America, Europe, the Middle and Far East. He has been responsible for driving change across multiple geographies. In the last 10 years, Roger has specialised in trouble shooting, solving operational problems and redesigning practices and processes. He has faced many challenges in turning business units around and has built a proven track record. Roger believes that his management style, which involves bringing all stakeholders together to find a plausible solution to a problem, together with his tried and trusted methodology, ensures that a long term and workable solution emerges.
Roger is a well known contributor to the London Market modernisation programme and has successfully driven difficult change projects through Aon, HSBC and Marsh. Being an experienced practitioner himself, he realises that there are some unique practices undertaken in the London Market which bring real value to the insurance transaction and whilst technology can bring tangible benefits to the sector, he believes that we should be careful not to destroy what makes this Market both successful and respected throughout the World.
As a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and holding a BA Honours Degree in Insurance Management, Roger believes passionately in the need for training, development and professional standards. Roger has mentored emerging talent in the Marketplace, as he feels strongly that the industry needs to retain bright and ambitious people if it's to maintain its position as the World's most respected and successful Marketplace.
