Roger Keenan

Roger started his career at the BBC in London, designing television studios.  He moved on from there to become a design engineer.  Notable achievements were an innovative Power Flying System for the new National Theatre in London, and the electronic Hansard for the Ontario Parliament.  In 1981, he started and ran his own business, with six staff designing electronic products for clients under contract.

He took a year out in 1986 to study for an MBA at Cranfield, then joined a graphic arts company as a middle-ranking marketing manager, a position with a lot of world-wide travelling which he thoroughly enjoyed.  He became managing director of a 50-person company in St Albans manufacturing professional audio equipment, then joined Trafficmaster plc in Milton Keynes.

He founded Trafficmaster Passo GmbH in Frankfurt and became Chief Executive of Teletrac Inc, an acquisition in Los Angeles.  In 2005, he became managing director of City Lifeline Ltd, a data centre in central London in which he held a significant equity stake.  He moved it from £1.6M to £4.1M in turnover and from loss to £450K pa profit, then sold it in 2016 to Redcentric plc for £4.8M.

Having personally made many of the mistakes that small business owners make, suffered the blows and bearing the scars, Roger is now passionate about bringing that experience to other small businesses in an organised, controlled, process-based way.

Roger believes that, with the right structures and approach, any business which has a viable market can be made successful and deliver both financial gain and a sensible work-life balance for its owners. Married with two children, both now grown-up, Roger lives with his wife in Leighton Buzzard, where he has been since 1988.
