Situated in Cardiff University’s innovation campus, sbarc|spark’s overarching aim is to create a community driven by expertise, creativity, curiosity and entrepreneurship, all focused on tackling some of the most important social and economic issues facing societies. In our world of global connections and complications, we cannot expect one institution or academic subject to hold all of the answers. At sbarc|spark, we are pooling expertise under one roof will allow us to work in new ways as we develop and explore answers to these problems.

Central to this vision is connectivity – the capability to work collaboratively and in more complex way. A culture and structure different from those associated with a traditional University is what we are building. Underpinning this is an enhanced agility to respond to opportunities for collaboration and societal need, and to work beyond silos. We are bringing together interdisciplinary research groups with public, third and privator sector organisations and communities to address issues that affect us all, from the causes of unemployment to ways of making us healthier and safer.
