Scottish Government - Property Factor Registration Team

The Property Factor Registration team is comprised of three members of staff based within the Scottish Government offices in Dundee and Edinburgh. The team undertakes Scottish Ministers functions in relating to the Property Factors (Scotland) Act 2011.

This includes

  • preparing and maintaining the register of property factors i.e. considering applications to enter the register and considering whether a person should be removed from the register in accordance with the 2011 Act;
  • considering requests to change information held on the register including the co-ordination of the annual exercise to update property and land records on the register;
  • input on compliance matters and relationship with registration;
  • policy responsibility for the 2011 Act including preparing the associated code of conduct for property factors and providing guidance and information (not legal advice) on the 2011 Act to property factors, the public and other interests; and
  • considering and implementing legislative requirements and improvements to the 2011 Act.
