Rachel Brown started her business ‘Secretary Outsource’ in October 2007 from scratch, having worked as a secretary, PA and Office Manager during a career spanning over 30 years.

Having attained the highest qualification for Office Professionals in theUKat the time (1988) she gained a wealth of experience working in the private sector (a high street bank), the public sector (Brighton & Hove City Council) as well as small businesses.  In 1994 she was runner up in ‘The Times’ Secretary of the Year competition.

When a fixed-term contract was coming to an end in 2007, she was looking for a new challenge and decided to utilise her considerable skills and experience to offer a freelance secretarial service and consultancy.  Now 5 years on, she has one employee, several subcontractors and an office in Newhaven Enterprise Centre which is the hub of Secretary Outsource.

Taking minutes of meetings is the work she gets asked to do most - there is obviously a skills shortage in the area!
