Sotheby's Institute of Art- London

Since 1969 Sotheby’s Institute of Art has been preparing students for careers in the international art world. Our vision is to be universally acknowledged as the premier provider of advanced object-based art education, whose graduates combine passion for the visual arts with scholarship, connoisseurship and market sophistication in order to flourish as leaders in the global art market.

The Institute’s educational centres in London, New York and Los Angeles offer various Master’s degrees, Semester/Study Abroad Courses (15 weeks) and Summer Study (1, 2 or 4 weeks courses) specializing in Art Business, Contemporary Art, Fine & Decorative Art and Design, and Asian Art. Our graduates usually become ‘experts’ or assume management positions in auction houses, art fairs, commercial galleries, museums, art foundations and private collections or work as ‘consultants’ in the fields of art investment and valuation, art law or art insurance.

Postgraduate degrees and semester courses at Sotheby’s Institute of Art (London) are validated by the University of Manchester (United Kingdom). In Los Angeles Sotheby's Institute of Art operates in partnership with Claremont Graduate University (CGU). In New York the Institute holds degree-granting authority from the University of the State of New York (USNY) and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

Scholarships, financial aid and travel grants are available but vary across campuses. For options and terms & conditions for eligibility please visit the Admissions Overview section in our website.
