Spinal Injuries Ireland is the only dedicated support agency for people who have sustained a life changing spinal cord injury and their families. The World Health Organisation acknowledges a spinal cord injury as one of the most devastating injuries that a person can sustain however with the right supports and services, people can continue to live the lives they imagined prior to injury.
A spinal cord injury can happen to anyone at any stage either traumatically (car accident, sport, adventure) or non traumatically (stroke, cancer).
In Ireland 76% of people with a SCI are unemployed and 40% live on or below the poverty line. Spinal Injuries Ireland provide a nationwide service working with people on a one to one basis to increase social inclusion through education, work, social or sport.
