Spirit of Ubuntu
During this unprecedented year of illness and healing, we want to engage in supporting and encouraging more resilient responses to life and living well. Through the intention of our CIC – Action to Prevent Suicide - we have put heads and hearts together and are very pleased to be offering our event:
Our programme of events will address the theme of Wellness, with a particular focus for People of Colour living in Devon and the broader regions of the Southwest.
We aim to provide a safe space to engage in various activities and workshops supporting wellness and wider health. These workshops will be delivered by practitioners, coaches and health professionals from ethnically diverse backgrounds.
The activities make up a colourful patchwork of conversations and presentations about Health and Wellbeing – including dance and movement sessions for people at all levels of mobility. Some of the different practices we’d like to introduce are: African Breathwork, Meditation & Drumming, Shiatsu & Qi Gong, Peer Support, Art & Creativity, Men’s & Women’s Groups and much more.
Many of our workshops are based on the ‘5 steps to mental wellbeing’ themes laid out by the NHS, as well as other elements of wellness for mind and body. We want to offer a unique opportunity to speak, listen, share and connect in a way that supports the development of our own innate wisdom and sense of personal – as well as collective wellbeing.
Our intention is for attendees to leave the event not only feeling inspired, revived and empowered - but having gained additional tools. A key part of this would be knowledge and information on locally available activities, or online resources to support being and staying well.
