St Stephen's ASHA Team
In October, our team (Alison, Colin, Ethan, Jo, Karen, Natalie, Sarah, Sophia, Toni) travels to Delhi to volunteer for Asha, an inspirational Indian charity transforming lives in the slums of Delhi for over 35 years. Asha, means "hope" in Hindi, and helps improve community infrastructure, empower women through training, educate children and young people, and provide essential healthcare services. Asha works with individuals from all backgrounds, castes, faiths, and ethnicities to promote dignity, acceptance, and justice while helping people reach their full potential. Students from the slums now pursue higher education opportunities, in Delhi University and abroad.
We will work at the Asha centre in Seelampur slum to serve the community through engaging activities such as games and crafts with children, teaching English to students, serving meals to the elderly, and revitalising the centre by painting vibrant murals in classrooms.
We aim to raise £5,000 to support Asha’s vital work in transforming the lives of some of the most marginalized individuals. The funds raised will be sent directly to India via Friends of Asha (GB). If you are a UK taxpayer, please consider gift-aiding your donation so that your contribution can make an even greater impact.
