Susi De Lacey

I have worked in mental health for almost ten years, first as an advocate for parents with learning disabilities and later as the Deputy Manager of Eiriol Mental Health Advocacy Charity. During this time I liaised with Carmarthenshire Hoarding Network to improve access to mental health support services including counselling. I also worked as the Hoarding Project Co-Ordinator at Swansea Mind. I completed my Counselling Diploma with the Adlerian Society of Wales in Narberth and have worked as a bereavement counsellor for Hywel Dda NHS Trust.

Although I do not have hoarding issues myself research into this issue over the past four years, my counselling training and work supporting clients with hoarding or chronic disorganisation and developing ways of encouraging them to start de-cluttering, has formed the basis for my two hour Small Steps Hoarding Awareness Training for Professionals. I hope by sharing this with other professionals they will develop greater insight and be able to work with their clients to achieve better outcomes.
