Talk to US! (A University of Southampton School-University Partnership Initiative)

Talk to US! was an RCUK-funded School-University Partnership Initiative (SUPI) engaging secondary school students and teachers with researchers and research at the University of Southampton between 2013-2016. Today it is the outward facing portal of the UoS, particularly aimed at schools, supported by the university’s School-University Partnership Officer (SUPO).

Working with 40 teachers from 25 schools and 8 sub-projects across the university - ACoRNS, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Discover Oceanography, Dragonfly Day, The Gene Tech Hub, LifeLab and Murder in the Medical School – almost 600 pupils interacted directly with university research and experienced life in Higher Education through talks, visits, research projects. The SUPO continues to support these projects as well as responding to over 100 requests in the last year for school-university partnership activities.

Talk to US! also produced the 'Building School-University Partnerships Guide Book', a support toolkit for school and university staff working together based on on-the-ground learning from the SUPI project. It has become the most comprehensive guide of it's kind, with 750 copies distributed internationally and the online version receiving new users every day - join them by visiting: www.sotontalk2us.org.uk
