GSK has been committed to expanding your knowledge of the latest advances in dentistry for over 30 years through the Talking Points lecture series roadshow! This year the GSK brand Sensodyne will be hosting 2 lecture sessions brought to you by renowned experts in the field and tailored to your role in practice.

The Talking Points lectures contribute up to 2.5 hours of verifiable CPD and you will be awarded a certificate following the lecture.

Registration opens: 6:00pm  
Exhibition starts: 6:30pm (GSK will offer a light dinner) 
Lecture starts: 7:30pm 
Finish approx: 9:45pm


For 2016 we have devised a lecture programme that allows tailored sessions for different team members to maximise relevance for the whole team. Please note that both lectures will be running at the same time in different rooms.

Lecture 1: for dentists, hygienists and therapists: 
‘The personal and social impact of dentine hypersensitivity’

Peter Robinson

Professor Peter Robinson is Head of School and Professor of Dental Public Health at the School of Oral and Dental Sciences, University of Bristol. Professor Robinson's research interests include the evaluation of oral health care and the impact of oral conditions on everyday life.

Barry Gibson
Professor Barry Gibson BSc MMedSci PhD – Professor in Medical Sociology and Head of Academic Unit of Dental Public Health. His research interests include medical sociology and oral health related quality of life. Professor Gibson was involved in the development of an OHQoL measure for assessing the impacts of dentine hypersensitivity.

Lecture 2: for dental nurses and other practice staff: 
‘Dealing with nervous patients’

Tim Newton
Professor Tim Newton – Professor of Psychology as Applied to Dentistry at King’s College London Dental Institute. Professor Newton has worked in the behavioural sciences in relation to dentistry for over 20 years and his particular interests include the management of dental anxiety.
Brid Hendron Image
Brid Hendron – Brid has worked in general practice for many years and has a specialist interest in relaxing nervous, anxious and phobic patients. Many practitioners have enlisted her help communicating with patients and she lectures extensively throughout the UK.
