Thames Steamers Limited operates the carbon neutral steam launch 'Alaska', which was built in 1883 and is the oldest working passenger steamer on the Thames. The boat is part of the National Historic Fleet alongside such esteemed craft as HMS Victory and 'Cutty Sark'. 'Alaska; is used for private and corporate charter work, events, TV, film and photo shoots.
In July 2009 'Alaska' was chosen to act as the 'Royal Barge', taking Queen Elizabeth II along the Thames to witness the ancient ceremony of 'Swan Upping', the first time a reigning monarch had attended the event since Henry VIII. On 25th June 2012 'Alaska' took the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh from Hambleden Lock to the Henley Business School to attend a Diamond Jubilee Garden Party. Earlier in June 'Alaska' was one of the 1,000 participants in the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Pageant in London.
