The CMED Program of Shenandoah Conservatory

Shenandoah University’s Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Musicianship & Entrepreneur Development (CMED) is an innovative program designed to prepare the next generation of music industry leaders. With a built-in minor in entrepreneurship, CMED equips students with the musical, technological, business, and marketing skills needed to thrive as modern music professionals.

Through hands-on, interdisciplinary coursework and collaboration with peers in music production, jazz studies, business, and more, students gain a well-rounded education rooted in creativity and real-world application. CMED performers develop and showcase their artistry through diverse contemporary styles—including pop, rock, R&B, country, electronic, gospel, and original compositions—culminating in a capstone project that launches them into the industry with a professional portfolio and a clear, entrepreneurial vision.
