The Emily Davison Centre

1 in 3 women around the world experience physical or sexual violence. So for the next 16 days, UN Women is calling on everyone to take a stand to end violence against women and girls.

The Emily Davison Centre is the first ending violence against women and girls hub in the UK and is based in East Lancashire. The hub is home to a number of specialist local and national services, providing a centre of excellence on issues such as domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking and all forms of gender based violence, abuse and exploitation.

Over the 16 days the centre will be providing a number of activities for individuals, communities, families, professionals and public officials. The first week focuses in raising awareness and expertise, you can book on 3 hour training sessions to gain a better understanding of Stalking, Domestic Abuse, Domestic abuse and children, Women’s Aid ambassador training (ASK ME!), Resilience and Trauma in the workplace and child sexual exploitation.

In week two we will be holding a community open day, Service Annual General Meetings and a professionals day on the 4th of December. People interested in volunteering can attend a workshop on the 5th of December and for private companies wanting to know more about developing and implementing domestic abuse policies, there is a session on the 5th of December.

On week three we will be holding a service users day and young peoples activities and we will finish on the 10th of December (International Human Rights Day).

The official opening of the Emily Davison Centre will be on the 10th of December 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
