The Equality Trust
The Equality Trust is a charity dedicated to tackling inequalities of income, wealth, and power. Founded in 2009 following the influential publication The Spirit Level by our patrons Professors Kate Pickett and Richard Wilkinson, we have consistently used research and advocacy to challenge economic injustice.
Our vision is for everyone to enjoy a good life. To achieve this, we confront inequality, advocate for socially just policies, and help to create the conditions for communities to thrive. We do this by gathering evidence, building connections, collaborating, empowering communities, enabling co-production with people bringing lived experience at the sharp end, and campaigning for meaningful change.
We have long championed the implementation of the Socio-Economic Duty, supporting both national momentum and grassroots efforts that have led to its voluntary adoption by local authorities. As Secretariat to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Poverty, co-chairs of the #1forEquality coalition, and members of the Socio-Economic Duty Expert Advisory Group to the Cabinet Office, we are helping to shape the national conversation. Together, we are mobilising support for what could be a once-in-a-generation step forward in equality and human rights. https://equalitytrust.org.uk/
