The Joan of Art Studio

Joan is a contemporary Irish artist and a passionate Art and Design teacher. Hailing from County Armagh, Joan has loved drawing and painting since she was a child. She studied Textiles and Fashion at the University of Ulster and enjoyed an exciting seven-year career in the fashion industry before transitioning to teaching. Joan's artwork often captures the beauty of her local landscape, familiar landmarks along with the Irish coastline. Her work is inspired by colour, light and seasonal change. Joan is a member of the Macha Arts Collective and is open to private commissions and painting workshops upon request.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“In September 2023, I decided to revisit my passion for painting and drawing by making space to prioritize art making. I now divide my time between teaching and working in my home art studio. I have launched Instagram and Facebook pages, where I visually narrate my artistic process and unveil my artistic outcomes. I have also completed a number of successful private commissions and painting workshops.I hope my artwork will bring people joy and provide an emotional connection to a sense of place in time.”
