The John Rutherford Centre for Galician Studies

The Oxford Centre for Galician Studies, housed in The Queen’s College of the University of Oxford, was founded in 1992 under the Directorship of Dr John Rutherford, being the first academic institution to offer Galician Studies outside Spain.

Nowadays there are more than forty centres all over the world, and three in the British Isles (Bangor, Cork and Oxford), for which this has been the alma mater.

Working with the University Lector in Galician, the Centre coordinates, encourages and publicizes within the English-speaking world all activities, particularly academic ones (offering undergraduate courses and supervision for graduate students), related to Galician culture.
