The International Coach Federation (ICF) is the largest worldwide resource for professional coaches and the source for those who are seeking a coach. We are a nonprofit organisation formed by individual members - professionals who practice coaching, including Executive Coaches, Leadership Coaches, Life Coaches and many more, from around the world.
Formed in 1995, today the ICF is the leading global organisation, with over 17,000 members, dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high professional standards, providing independent certification, and building a network of credentialed coaches. We exist to support and advance the coaching profession through programmes and standards supported by our members and to be an authoritative source on coaching information and research for the public.
The ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.
The UK Chapter was the first ICF Chapter that members established outside North America. It came to life in early 2000 as a result of conversations held between ICF members from the UK Elizabeth Ferguson, Aboodi Shabi and Phillippa Fitzpatrick. The first UK ICF Board was a group of volunteers who passionately believed in the professionalisation of coaching – something we still pride ourselves on!
Members elect ICF board in the UK each year. All our Board members are professional coaches and work on the board as volunteers. Please feel free to contact us if we can support you in any way.
