University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY)

University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY) is a nationwide annual competition that aims to bring together talented individuals through music. Backed by the Mayor of London and the former Higher Education Minister- David Lammy, UGCY is a multi award winning voluntary organisation providing an unprecedented platform for University Gospel Choirs across the UK to develop and showcase their musical abilities.

Since its creation, UGCY has held three annual competitions, celebrating the talents of 1000+ individuals from various universities across the UK. With presence at over 30 universities, UGCY prides itself in being able to offer opportunities and create platforms for talented individuals who may not have had the opportunity otherwise.

UGCY works with ITV’s the X-Factor as the exclusive supplier for backing choirs and has done so for the past 3 years, have provided opportunities for gospel choirs at corporate events (e.g. Deloitte, CBI), on radio (e.g. BBC London), National TV (e.g ITV News)  and at various other events. We also featured in ITV's "Your face sounds familiar" and in July 2013 UGCY finalist choirs featured in the first ever BBC Gospel Proms, broadcasted live on BBC Radio 3 and were credited for our contribution.
