WAND UK
WAND is an independent charity that addresses the problems facing women in isolated and excluded communities through drop-in sessions, outreach services and networking events. WAND was set up to work predominantly with female asylum seekers, refugees and migrants in 2005 but have since extended to all corners of the community.
WAND UK is a volunteer led women’s charity delivering high quality services and meeting the needs of disadvantaged young girls and vulnerable women in our communities. Supporting 400 vulnerable women a year in 6 different London boroughs .Our aim are to empower women to become agents for their own change, increase visibility for disadvantaged young girls, and raise awareness of their struggle. All our projects aim to bridge the power of inequality. We exist to support, inspire and empower young girls and women. Advocating on daily basis for those living with traumatic life experiences such as domestic and sexual abuse. We offer training and workshops ensuring that all women understand and have good knowledge of the systems and where to access the support they need. Aiming to equip young girls and vulnerable women with tools and life skills such as negotiation, communication, assertiveness and leadership. We offer free services, including advice and general information, advocacy, support, education and training. We have a multilingual team providing one to one mental and emotional support. We work holistically disseminating three well-being messages: accept who you are; eat healthily; keep active in all our programmes.
