Wellbeing Champions Swansea University
The Wellbeing Champion project is a partnership between Discovery and Wellbeing. A group of student volunteers promote wellbeing activities throughout the university. All students receive training in Student Minds Look After Your Mate and Boundaries and Mental Health Awareness. The project is founded in co-production with staff and students jointly identifying focus areas. Current activities include:
Development of wellbeing notice boards across campuses to provide information about wellbeing and wellbeing related events;
‘The Lounge’; a peer-eye style drop-in session for any student to access support from their peers. Students can come along and chat through any difficulties in a relaxed, informal environment. Students can chat one-to-one or in the wider group with Well-being Champions and other students. For 2020 the lounge is being run in a virtual format over zoom;
Open day Wellbeing Champions, supporting the Wellbeing Service by providing a student insight into wellbeing support at Swansea.
