WHO Collaborating Centre for Global Women's Health

In 2019, University of Birmingham obtained the designation of World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Global Women’s Health for its research supporting WHO’s programmes on maternal and perinatal health.

Located within the Institute of Metabolism and Systems Research (IMSR), the collaborating centre undertakes cutting edge translational scientific research, addressing the health needs of pregnant women and newborns in low- and middle-income countries, and globally.

As part of this work, we support the relevant WHO programmes by providing expertise in evidence synthesis, clinical trials, maintaining international pregnancy databases, and through capacity building activities.
