Why WLN?

We are a social justice organisation promoting intersectional gender equality for women of all backgrounds, heritage, and identities in FE, skills and lifelong learning.

WLN started nearly 30 years ago as a not-for-profit organisation supporting women to achieve and succeed in senior leadership roles in #FE colleges. In 2020 WLN transformed into an affinity group, and in 2021 we registered as a community interest company.

Our activities

Activities to achieve our priorities include webinars and training, events, social media, partnerships, and income generation. Through our training activities and events, we aim to enable and empower all kinds of women in further education, skills and lifelong learning to:

• Create the conditions for women managers and leaders to learn, survive and work in an ever-changing environment.
• Provide thinking space for women managers and leaders.
• Increase interaction, deep conversations, critical thinking and focussed learning activities.
• Encourage learning beyond the individual and their organisation.
• Strengthen the potential of women managers as future leaders.
• Recognise and overcome systemic and internalised gendered barriers.
• Advocate for intersectional gender equality.
• Campaign to end sexual violence against women and girls.
