About YES Stirling

YES Stirling is a non-party campaign, part of the National Yes Registry, preparing the ground for a 2nd independence referendum in Scotland.

  • Although YES lost the Scottish Independence Referendum in 2014 (by 55% to 45%), never has this nation been so politically charged, motivated and informed. Within days of 18th September, membership of the SNP, the Greens and the SSP had soared.
  • The Smith Commission, tasked with delivering "the Vow", was hamstrung by the Tories and Labour, both limiting as far as possible any meaningful new powers for Scotland.
  • The Scotland Bill (2015), with David Cameron promising "the strongest devolved parliament anywhere in the world", instead gave us next to nothing. Our Scottish Parliament's powers are less than that of a Canton in Switzerland or the equivalent of a local council in many parts of Europe.

Brexit and its implications for Scotland

On 23rd June 2016, Scotland voted overwhelmingly (62% to 38%) to remain in the European Union. Nevertheless, we are set to be dragged out by England and Wales, who narrowly voted to leave the EU.
As a so-called partnership of equals, this is democratically unacceptable.

We need to prepare for the 2nd Independence Referendum now.
