Set a refund policy

Set a refund policy to build trust with your attendees by setting expectations. First, create an event with paid tickets and go to "Refund policy" (under "Payments & Tax"). Choose the refund policy that suits your event best and click "Save". Attendees can see the refund policy on your event listing and order confirmations. <h2 id="1">1. Go to your Event Dashboard.</h2> <p>Go to &quot;Manage events&quot; in your account. Then select your event.</p> <h2 id="2">2. Go to “Refund policy” (under “Payments”).</h2> <p>If you do not see “Payments”, you first need to create at least one paid ticket type. Go to the “Tickets” page to create a paid ticket type.</p> <h2 id="3">3. Select your refund policy.</h2> <p>Choose the refund policy that best fits your event. This refund policy determines when attendees can request a refund through Eventbrite. Setting a refund policy only means that attendees can or can&#39;t request refunds through Eventbrite. As the organizer, you can eblink{issue refunds=&gt;https://www.eventbrite.com/support/articleredirect?anum=3399} at any time. • 1 day: Give attendees up to 1 day before your event&#39;s start date to request refunds. • 7 days: Allow attendees to request refunds up to 7 days before your event&#39;s start date. • 30 days: Attendees can request refunds up to 30 days before your event&#39;s start date. • No refunds: Attendees won&#39;t be able to submit a refund request. • I don’t want to specify my refund policy now. I will respond to attendee refund requests on a case by case basis. Eventbrite sends you an email when attendees submit refund requests, and you can choose to eblink{refund their order=&gt;https://www.eventbrite.com/support/articleredirect?anum=3399}. If you work out another solution, be sure to eblink{deny the request=&gt;https://www.eventbrite.com/support/articleredirect?anum=33878}.</p> <h2 id="4">4. Choose refund methods. ($USD only)</h2> <p>When an attendee requests a refund through Eventbrite, they can select their preferred refund method based on the options you give: • Credit to a future event, or refund to the original payment method • Refund to the original payment method • Credit to a future event only The option to select “Credit to a future event only” will be available if you haven’t published your event or haven’t specified your refund policy. After you publish your event, you can only change the refund methods to be more flexible. Keep in mind that if an attendee submits a refund request, you must issue a refund to the method they selected. Also, choose when a credit expires (1 yr, 2 yrs, 3 yrs, or never). Consider the time it might take you to host another event and local laws that may set restrictions on the expiration date.</p> <h2 id="5">5. Set up automatic refunds.</h2> <p>To set up automatic refunds, publish your event and set a 30-day, 7-day, or 1-day refund policy. Then, enable automatic refunds and choose if you want to cover the fees. When you turn on automatic refunds, refund requests are automatically approved if: • You still have funds in your event. • The order was for a single ticket. • The attendee selected to receive their refund to the original payment method (not credit to a future event). If a refund request doesn&#39;t qualify for an automated refund, you have to eblink{refund it manually=&gt;https://www.eventbrite.com/support/articleredirect?anum=3399}.</p> <h2 id="6">6. Refunds outside of Eventbrite.</h2> <p>We suggest issuing refunds through Eventbrite for the best experience. However, if you need to issue refunds outside of Eventbrite, it’s important to get permission from attendees and let us know by selecting the following options: • Cash • Check • Gift Card • Tickets to a future event • Other</p> <h2 id="7">7. Save your changes.</h2> <h2 id="8">8. Change your refund policy.</h2> <p>If you haven&#39;t published your event yet, you can change your refund policy to any other policy. After you publish your event, you can change the policy to a more flexible one. For example, you can go from a “No refunds” policy to a “30 days” policy.
