The Cork Summer Show has been one of the city’s summer highlights for more than 200 years.

The Show is the largest and oldest event of its kind in the area and is supported by visitors from as far afield as Dublin and London. Taking place over one weekend in late June, the Show attracts visitors in the tens of thousands with its mix of agriculture, family activities, food, music, home, garden and entertainment attractions.

For 2015, the Show’s organisers decided to try to increase the number of advance ticket purchases – previously tickets were sold at the gate. Lucy O’Donoghue, who assisted the Munster Agricultural Society to organise and publicise the Show in 2015, said the Society has learned valuable lessons from Eventbrite, including how to onsite queues and reach out to new audiences.

We spoke to Lucy O’Donoghue to find out how Eventbrite helped the Cork Summer Show:

  • Use a promotional code to attract a new corporate audience to the agricultural show
  • Speed up queuing times for visitors by creating a second line for visitors withprintable and mobile Eventbrite tickets
  • Accurately gauge pre-event ticket sales and secure non-refundable tickets in theevent of bad weather
