After a weekend of drinking coffee at the London Coffee Festival, we thought we could do with a week of drinking some more!

So we spoke to UK Coffee Week and asked them where some of the best London coffee shops were. With their recommenadations, and the help of the guys at The London Coffee Guide, we went to the five coffee shops they suggested to see how they were.

1. Prufrock Coffee (Farringdon)

Prufrock Coffee isn’t just a coffee shop, it’s a place to go and learn about coffee. There are SCAE (Speciality Coffee Association of Europe) Courses for beginners right up to professionals, including learning how to create coffee art, different types of brewing & a course to enhance your sensory skills.

The atmosphere is chilled with lots of natural light and accompanied by a comfortable level of hubbub. The coffee is supplied by Square Mile and is expertly brewed and well presented.

2. Workshop (Clerkenwell)

Workshop is definitely a popular brunch destination, not surprising as you can have a great cup of coffee to accompany your meal.

There is a great spot towards the back of the room, where you will see the team roasting the coffee beans, bringing with it all those amazing coffee aromas. The grass wall right next to it is a great feature and really gives character to the place.

With a name like Workshop, you would be right to assume they also offer workshops and masterclasses in brewing and latte art.

3. Ozone (Old St)

Another popular destination for having brunch with a brew. There are comfortable booths to retreat into or the option to sit in and amongst it all by the bar, and watching the chefs cook in the open kitchen. If you weren’t hungry when you walked in, watching the food being prepared, with all the accompanying smells, will have you picking up a menu in no time.

You’ll also want to try there own brand of cold brew, which is perfect for the upcoming summer months.

4. Kaffiene (Soho)

This cosy coffee shop is always busy, and it’s easy to see why when you try there coffee with one of the many pastries and cakes they have on display. As you would imagine in a smaller venue, you notice the staff darting around a lot more, they are all extremely friendly and welcoming and make the place feel more like going round a friends than to a coffee shop.

5. Caravan King’s Cross

Situated in the beautiful Granary Square, Caravan is a great spot whether your meeting for a quick coffee or fancy taking your time and having some delicious food. There is a huge array of ‘freshly baked today’ treats to pick from, making it hard to decide what to pick. Maybe this just creates a great excuse to come back to try some more? Either way, you will be sure to head back.
