2026 marks 100 years since King George V granted Salford official city status. The centenary gives us a chance to celebrate everything that makes the city great; and it will include a cultural programme curated and created by Walk the Plank and From the Other.
Here are the activities that will be happening at Fun Palace on the 4th of October:
- See our prototype wagon which will be going out in Salford in October half-term. The Wagon Train will reappear next summer as part of a travelling mini festival across the city - but we need your ideas to make it happen. What should take place on or around the Wagon in your community - a fashion show, a band night, a karaoke hokey cokey, a food festival? This is your chance to influence the cultural programme for 2026.
- Get crafty with Salford Badge Club; design and make your own badge to take home.
- Take a seat in the Speaking and Listening Pod; discover hidden histories from the canal.
- Get to know about creating a pop-up embassy are part of Creative Embassies with Nia and Stew, our Creative Embassies participants.
This is Walk the Plank’s fifth Fun Palace and everyone is welcome. Free refreshments.
Our building is fully accessible and a short distance from Salford Shopping City (bus stops) and Salford Crescent train station. If you have any questions about your visit or want to find out more, please contact getinvolved@walktheplank.co.uk
