1 Mile Project Launch
Event Information
Description
“In Hackney...the education offer has gone from being probably the worst to becoming one of the best, not just in London, but in the UK... But we cannot afford to be complacent.”
- Mayor Jules Pipe.
Join us to celebrate transformation of education in Hackney and the launch of the 1 Mile Project - a new initiative empowering teachers around Tech City to make a difference.
Rocket Fund is a new crowdfunding platform for schools, built by Nesta (the UK’s innovation foundation). It enables teachers to buy the equipment or services that they think will have the biggest impact on their students' education, by raising money from local businesses and their community.
Following a successful pilot in UK schools, and inspired by a hugely impactful model in the USA, Edspace have partnered with Nesta to bring Rocket Fund to Tech City.
We've called it the 1 Mile Project: aiming to support the 61 schools within a 1 mile radius of Edspace.
Come along to hear about educational transformation in Hackney, the range of exciting things going on now and how you can help a local school in the future.
