This Farm & Forestry practical first aid course will support you with how to deal with life threatening incidents and accidents on-farm.

<h4>The course covers the following areas:</h4><p><br></p><ul><li>The aims of first aid, scene safety and the role of the First Aider</li><li>Assessing a casualty using the Primary Survey</li><li>Unresponsive and breathing casualty - recovery position</li><li>Unresponsive and not breathing casualty CPR using current Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines</li><li>AED (Automated External Defibrillator) - rationale for using the AED, safe use, reporting/recording, handover to the emergency services</li><li>Treatment of crush injury, amputation, impalement, and severe bleeding</li></ul>

<h4>The Trainers:</h4><p><br></p><p>The training is delivered by qualified health care professionals registered with the HCPC and experienced instructors and casualty actors.</p><p>Each attendee has the opportunity to act both as the lead first aider and as a helper/bystander.</p>

<h4>Course Assessment</h4><p><br></p><p>This short course, which is valid for 3 years, is designed to complement a First Aid at Work course - giving additional training to meet farmer and forester needs, and more importantly, to equip a student to save a life until professional help arrives.</p><p>It is a fully practical course with no written assessment.</p><p>Awarded a Certificate of Attendance.</p><p><em><em>The course is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh)</em></em></p><p>What3Words location: ///combos.alerting.gazed</p>
