Anxiety in children is rising and it's showing up in ways many adults don’t recognise.It’s not always panic attacks or tears. Sometimes it looks like anger. Avoidance. Perfectionism. Withdrawal. School refusal. Even physical illness.Too often, these behaviours are misunderstood leading to frustration, missed opportunities for support and breakdowns in relationships.That’s why it’s more important than ever that parents, carers and school staff understand the many faces of anxiety and how to respond with empathy, clarity and confidence.On 8 July 2025, we’re delighted to welcome back the expert team from Bridge the Gap, who specialise in helping children feel seen, heard, and safe to boost our knowledge and understanding about anxiety. What you will learn: <ul><li>What anxiety really is and how it differs from general worry</li><li>How anxiety presents in children (emotionally, physically and behaviourally)</li><li>What’s happening in the brain and body when a child is anxious</li><li>Strategies and tools that help children regulate and feel supported</li><li>How to build trust and strengthen your relationship with an anxious child</li><li>What works in real life — whether you’re a parent, teacher, TA or SENCO</li></ul>The webinar is ideal for both parents and professionals. The important bits you need to know: <ul><li>All webinars are recorded except where we explicitly state they will not be</li><li>When you sign up, we will send you the link to the webinar. You’ll get reminder emails in the run-up to the event so long as you don’t unsubscribe from Eventbrite emails</li><li>When you join the webinar your camera and microphone are automatically turned off so we cannot see or hear you.</li><li>If you are delayed then don’t worry about joining late.</li><li>If something comes up and you cannot make it then don’t worry as all ticketholders are sent a link to the recording of the webinar the next day. <h1>About Bridge the Gap</h1>Bridge the Gap are a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Derby supporting the mental health and wellbeing of the local community. We deliver sessions to children within schools and privately to support emotional literacy. We also deliver in-depth emotional literacy training to schools and other child focused services. Our multidisciplinary team consists of mental health nurses, emotional literacy specialists, an educational psychologist, play therapist, music therapist, occupational therapists, creative expressive practitioners and child wellbeing practitioners. We are passionate about the importance of all children and young people having access to emotional literacy support from a young age as this fosters good, long term mental health Nikki is an experienced specialist mental health nurse and have worked both within adult and children mental health services NHS and privately. I have additional training in family therapy and CBT.Jennifer is an emotional literacy and early years specialist, I am passionate about proactive child development and support around emotional health and wellbeing.”
