All the same - people are still prepared to die trying.Whether it’s drugs, booze, video games or cross fit: human beings have always had the capacity to enjoy their habits to excess.This talk will elaborate a psychoanalytic metapsychology of addiction - a progressive alternative to the formulaic framework of standard addiction therapies.The analyst doesn’t take things at face value. It’s seldom obvious whether addiction is the problem rather than a solution to a more fundamental malaise.The talk will explore how addiction can be treated according to psychoanalytic principles.The talk will be followed by a Q &amp; A discussion.

About the speaker:Conor McCormack is a Lacanian psychoanalyst with extensive experience working as a psychotherapist for the NHS.He is a member of the <a href="https://cfar.org.uk/" title="https://cfar.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Centre for Freudian Analysis &amp; Research</a>.
