An Evening with Rosie Jones

Writing on the Wallis a dynamic, Liverpool-based community organisation that coordinates projects and events that celebrate writing in all its forms. We work with a broad and inclusive definition of writing that embraces literature, creative writing, journalism and non-fiction, poetry, songwriting, and storytelling. Writing on the Wall works with local, national and international writers whose work provokes controversy and debate. We work with all of Liverpool’s communities to promote and celebrate individual and collective creativity.

In her keynote speech, comedian and writer on Netflix’s hit Sex Education, Rosie Jones talks about her challenges, experiences and her journey working in the TV &amp; comedy industry.
Is the comedy industry hard to break through as a woman? Female performers only account to 10% of the industry according to the Independent and are therefire more likely to miss out on getting their own show and their voice heard. Panel shows underrepresent women and often have more men as captains and regulars leaving women as the butt of the joke rather than the ones making them.
Rosie Jones, ex-television researcher was awarded second place in the Leicester Mercury’s New Comedian Of The Year Award 2018 and has gone on to star on Live At The Apollo, The Jonathan Ross Show, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Cats Does Countdown, The Last Leg, Rosie Jones Tries To Help, Live From The Comedy Store, Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back, Comedy Central UK’s Roast Battle, Mock The Week and Hypothetical. Rosie has completed two sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with both shows ‘Fifteen Minutes’ and ‘Backward’ receiving critical acclaim - with the Scotsman describing her show as "both elegantly crafted and mischievous to its bones". Not forgetting her comedy writing roots Rosie is also busy working on a couple of sitcoms and wrote on the hit Netflix series Sex Education.
