We are kicking off 2023 with a new series of Regional Speakeasies around the UK. Each event will be addressed by a senior member of Free Speech Union staff to discuss Why Free Speech is Worth Fighting For. It’s your chance to find out why the individuals

<h4>FSU Liverpool Speakeasy</h4> <h3>OUR NEW MASTERS AND WHY THEY DISLIKE FREE SPEECH</h3>with FSU General Secretary Toby YoungWednesday 22nd JanuaryThe Athenaeum, Church Alley, Liverpool L1 3DD.Doors open 6pm for informal drinks with Toby Young, formal event begins 7pm, social from 8.30pm.Join us for our first Liverpool Speakeasy and hear FSU founder and General Secretary Toby Young give his assessment of why free speech is in such great peril today.There will, of course, be plenty of time for discussion, as well as socialising with fellow free speech supporters.Tickets are £10 for FSU members, £15 for non-members.<a href="https://freespeechunion.org/join/" title="https://freespeechunion.org/join/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">JOIN </a>the FSU to get discounts at all events. About our speakers:Toby Young is founder and general secretary of the Free Speech Union, a non-partisan, mass membership public interest body that stands up for the speech rights of its members. He co-founded four schools and a multi-academy trust in West London, served as a Fulbright Commissioner and is the author of four books, the best known of which is How to Lose Friends &amp; Alienate People (2001). He is an associate editor of the Spectator, where he’s written a weekly column since 1998, and Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Sceptic.
