The Inclusivity Project

The rapid shift to remote working and online events caused by coronavirus has made them more accessible for many people. But is there a risk of replacing one type of exclusion with another? And what do you need to know to make your work and events accessible to all? In this practical session we will look at the accessibility of different technologies, offer some practical tips and consider how the lockdown experience might shape a “new normal” in the workplace. We will be joined by: - Tigger Pritchard, awesomely neurodiverse, and an Autism and Pathological Demand Avoidance, Advocate, Consultant and Trainer.- Ben Bolton, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Digital Skills Partnership Coordinator- Dr Tanvir Bush, Associate Research Fellow at Bath Spa University exploring aspects of disability and exclusion - Julie Hawker, joint CEO of Cosmic, an ethical IT business which specialises in website development, IT training courses, business consultancy, tech support, digital marketing and search engine optimisationWe will consider questions including:-	What have changes to working habits due to covid-19 meant for inclusion? -	What have been the benefits and what do we want to hold on to from this as people gradually return to their place of work? -	Is there a risk of creating different types of exclusion in this new way of working? What can people do to ensure their (virtual) workplace or event is inclusive? About The Inclusivity Project The Inclusivity Project is a research and innovation project supporting inclusion, wellbeing, and prosperity for small Cornish businesses. It is led by the University of Exeter in partnership with Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership, Age UK and disAbility Cornwall, with funding from the European Regional Development Fund.
