Established in 2002, Bloc Projects is a contemporary arts organisation in the centre of Sheffield.Bloc Projects is a not-for-profit creative organisation with educational and charitable aims.We support artists at key stages in their careers through an acclaimed contemporary exhibitions programme.Our free public programme of talks, heritage projects, workshops and events supports the creative professional development of the local community, promoting diverse creative career pathways and providing generous opportunities for participatory learning, meaningful arts engagement and skill development.As an organisation we continue to work with other local art organisations, universities and charities to ensure our educational activities welcome a diverse and intergenerational demographic.

Closing Celebration &amp; Workshop: Harcourt Road Scroll MakingDo you have / feel a connection with Harcourt Road? Or do you want to explore the potentials of community alongside others, in a safe, facilitated space?To bring <a href="https://www.blocprojects.co.uk/exhibitions-events/2024/harcourt-road-exhibition" title="https://www.blocprojects.co.uk/exhibitions-events/2024/harcourt-road-exhibition" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">the Harcourt Road show</a> to a close, we are inviting you to a free workshop led by Clara Cheung and Gum Cheng to produce a collective handscroll.Typically depicting a landscape or other scenes in nature, this workshop is based on a traditional Chinese painting format that one literally ‘scrolls’ through to experience the image. Using a series of prompts, C&amp;G Artpartment will lead the group through a drawing exercise to produce a long-form visual piece. The resulting works will become the basis of an experimental zine that documents the learning from the ‘Harcourt Road’ project.We will take inspiration from all the stories and objects in the gallery and, through careful facilitation, will draw and make an image together, reflecting on what it means to create community, to listen and struggle alongside one another.⁠With music, food and conversation, we hope to see out this show on a celebratory note. Hope to see you then!⁠- <a href="https://www.candg-artpartment.com/" title="https://www.candg-artpartment.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">C &amp; G Artpartment</a> (Clara Cheung &amp; Gum Cheng) are community organisers, activists and artists based in Sheffield. With a strong concern for ecologies of art, C &amp; G Artpartment’s socially oriented practices respond to social and cultural issues. Between 2007 - 2021, they curated more than 100 art exhibitions that included more than 100 Hong Kong artists. Their work has been included as part of Peer to Peer, the Shanghai Biennale and the Singapore Biennale. C &amp; G are the 2024-25 Wysing x Para Site resident artists.
