Film Industry Sessions: Directing with Jane Gull

Join <a href="http://www.violetpictures.co.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Violet Pictures</a> for a LIVE online Industry Session on Directing with Jane Gull (My Feral Heart)Bring along questions for a Q+A with Jane, perhaps you are working on a project and have a question surrounding Directing?This event is free and open to all in Kent&#x27;s Creative SectorThis event is in partnership with <a href="https://www.screensouth.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Screen South&#x27;s</a> Re-Focus which includes special follow up opportunities after attending the sessionAbout Violet PicturesAs a documentary distributor Violet Pictures represent a library of diverse films, including acclaimed titles such as Oscar-nominee Hoop Dreams, Emmy-winner After Tiller, SXSW-winner The Punk Syndrome. They help filmmakers devise impact campaigns and enjoy supporting new and established directors. Their next release is the fascinating Recorder: The Marion Stokes Project which is released on demand from the 24 July with their partners Cargo Film &amp; Releasing, Curzon Home Cinema and Mubi. With their educational partner the Kent Film Foundation they have had the pleasure of training and developing the next generation of Kent-based filmmakers over the last three years running a series of workshops and screenings. Since 2018 they have developed ad run the Folkestone Harbour Screen&#x27;s Young Film Programmers group with support from Film Hub South East and they also host and programme the popular monthly documentary club at the Folkestone Quarterhouse.About Jane GullJane Gull&#x27;s debut feature film MY FERAL HEART, 2017, became the UK’s most successful ‘cinema-on-demand’ film of all time, in partnership with OurScreen. It earned Jane a BIFA long-list nomination for debut director and won best director and film at the Lift-Off Awards. The world premiere was at Cinequest in the US and picked up the audience choice award for best drama and lead Steven Brandon won several awards worldwide. It was included in Mark Kermode’s 2016 Film Review, describing it as “richly rewarding” and “beautifully directed”. Having started her career as an actress, the UK Film Council helped Jane to write and direct her first film TOGETHER ALONE. She has written, directed and produced several acclaimed shorts including the multi award winning SUNNY BOY, acquired by CH4 and ARTE TV. Jane is a graduate of the EIFF Talent Lab, Berlinale Talent Campus and the BFI London Film Festival’s Think-Shoot-Distribute. Jane also works in theatre and recently directed Kevin McNally in EXPLODING MAGGIE at the Tabards Theatre in London. She has several feature films in development.
