SWAN Training is aimed at professionals from any sector wishing to develop their knowledge and practice for working with or supporting autistic people. These training sessions are focused on professional support and service delivery.

<h3>SWAN Training - Autism and Eating Disorders- Neuro affirming Practice</h3>Date: Friday 12th September 2025Time: 11am-2pmSWAN Training is aimed at professionals wishing to develop their knowledge and practice for working with or supporting autistic people and are focused on professional support and service delivery. What Can I Expect to Learn:This autistic-led session will draw on the voices, knowledge and experiences of the autistic community and take a neurodivergent affirming approach to understanding how eating disorders may uniquely develop and affect the lives of autistic and neurodivergent people.Participants can expect to gain a deeper understanding the challenges faced in seeking and providing treatment.During the session, we will consider recovery based on neuroaffirming principle, clinical practice, treatment adaptations and support strategies.The session will cover topics such as - <ul><li>Understanding the occurrence of eating disorders, ARFID and other eating patterns</li><li>minority stress, stigma, identity development and masking</li><li>accessibility of supports and services,</li><li>Monotropism and thinking styles</li><li>Sensory needs, responses to our sensory needs, and the role of interoception</li><li>Social expectations of eating, therapeutic services</li><li>The importance of building a picture</li><li>Neuro-affirming practice Vs outside-in adjustments</li></ul>

<h1>SWAN</h1> <h3>Who we are:</h3>Founded as a charity (SCIO) in 2012 SWAN is an autistic-led Charity, providing services run by and for autistic women and non-binary people across Scotland.SWAN is an organisation led by autistic women, girls and non-binary people for the benefit of autistic women, girls and non-binary people. We create the change we’d like to see in our lives and in society.We do this by providing opportunities to connect with and learn from one another through information sharing, peer support and mentoring.
