The event's headline title #RedeemYourPresidency is inspired by the pledge made by President Nana Akufo-Addo to put his presidency on the line in his quest to deal with the galamsey menace. The aim is that a) as late as it is, the President uses his executive powers to meaningfully combat the illegal mining menace and to some extent redeem his presidency, and b) for all persons seeking political office to unequivocally declare their positions on dealing with illegal mining, by pledging ahead of the elections their support for the Eco-Conscious Citizens Environmental Demands*. This event will consist of speeches by environmentalists, scientists and academics, plus highlighting the Eco-Conscious Citizens Environmental Demands; mini-concert featuring musical performances by Osagyefo, Bibiduro Kakraba, Zakisha Brown, Nene Narh and Ha Manye; screening of excerpts of musical and documentary videos that speak to the subject of galamsey, plus the screening of the Poisoned For Gold documentary and post-screening discussion on some of the issues highlighted in the video.
