The Plymouth Social Enterprise Network works to be a focal point for the social enterprise sector in the city. The network is a vibrant marketplace for exchanging information, ideas and expertise. It promotes enterprise, learning, collaboration and commercial opportunities for social businesses in Plymouth.Collaborating with strategic national and local partners it is a voice for the Social Entrepreneurs of the city and works tirelessly to ensure that the vision of business for our future is a social one.

Culture, money, politics, economics. How social enterprises &amp; co-ops can create different forms of power and respond to divided democracies

An online session on world Social Enterprise Day and part of Plymouth's Social Enterprise City Festival.With the rise of disinformation and divisive populism, but also growing calls for concepts such as community power, we’ll look at what we mean by democracy and power through the eyes of the social entrepreneur. We’ll explore structures, culture and money, and ponder what role we might play in renewing and reimagining democracy.Join PSEN directors Ed Whitelaw and Jon Blyth as they share thinking from Europe, the United States and PSEN members' regarding the Plymouth riots and the wider political landscape.We’ll discuss, kick about ideas and consider how social enterprises, co-ops and community businesses can create different forms of power for people and communities, and ask what more needs to be done to make the world greener, fairer and a more socially enterprising place.
